Our church is currently “in vacancy” after our Minister retired at the start of October 2022. This means that we’re going to look for a new Minister to come and serve the communities of Hilton and Middlefield in Aberdeen.
Use the email address Info@HighHilton.Church to contact the Session Clerk (details below), and your email will be acknowledged, passed to the relevant person, and replied to within five days.
For the moment, the life and work of the church is being looked after by (photos to come):
Lorna Glen – our Interim Moderator. The interim moderator takes on the responsibilities of ensuring the good governance of the church while vacant, and making sure that the process of calling a new Minister is carefully followed.
Rhona Paterson – our Session Clerk. The session clerk is responsible for all of the administrative work of the Kirk Session (the church’s governing body), keeps the church records, receives enquiries, and is generally indispensable in the operations of the church.
Rev Dr Juan Cruz – our Minister Locum Tenens, who looks after pastoral matters and leads regular Sunday worship.
Barbara Miller – our Treasurer. The role of the treasurer in the church is much as in other organisations. Barbara looks after church finances, an unenviable task, and keeps us right in our financial commitments.
The Kirk Session – a wider committee of church elders who have individual and joint responsibility for the good order and operation of the church. Members of the Kirk Session lead and participate in various church committees, such as: the Property Committee, which looks after the buildings, grounds, and equipment of the church; the Worship Group, which looks are how our regular church services run; the Lets Committee, which considers applications for use of the church halls by church groups and others outwith the church. And so on.
The Congregation. Last in the list but first in importance! Our wide-ranging group of folk that join us in services of worship and who sometimes lend their skills and talents to the committees of the Kirk Session. Not all of our congregation are members of the church, some are regular visitors, some are occasional visitors. All are valued. All are welcome.
